Canada’s postal service is shut down. Fifty-five-thousand members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers are on strike as of this morning..
This comes after several days of intense negotiations involving federal mediators. The union says the two sides remain far apart.
Canada Post says mail deliveries are on hold, and no new mail is being accepted.
The strike happens just before the annual Black Friday sales event, and the start of the busy holiday shopping and mailing season.
