The holiday season officially arrives in Cochrane next Thursday, November 21st with the Santa Claus Parade.
Recreation supervisor Chantal Joanis says it begins at the fire hall at 6:00pm, and makes its way around town, ending at the Commando Pavilion for fireworks and a lot of other activity.
The map is posted on My Cochrane Now Dot Com and the Cochrane Community Services Facebook page.
“We’ll have Santa Claus throwing candies at the kids along the way,” Joanis notes, “and then they’ll be able to come and see Santa Claus at the Pavilion after.”
Floats and other parade entries can register up until the day of the parade.
“There is no fee, but we’ll have prizes for the best float, the one that represents Christmas,” says Joanis. “Last year we had the horses, the whole set-up, the OPP had done the Grinch in the cage. Everybody comes out with different ideas every year. It’s really nice to see.”
Back at the Pavilion, there’s a farmers’ Christmas market between 4:00 and 9:00pm and kids can meet Santa after the parade. The U9 Chargers hockey team will be selling hot chocolate and food.
