Every November, the Purse Project Network has a Cochrane chapter that gathers medium- to large purses and fills them with essentials for women.
Ambassador Cindy Salonen says the annual timing is to ensure they have them in time for winter.
“We want to make sure that some people in the community have personal hygiene products that they might not be able to provide themselves with,” she outlines.
A list of items is on the Purse Project Network website and the Facebook page of the Cochrane chapter.
“We have ten essential products, but we do encourage people to add extra items,” Salonen adds. “It could be gift cards, it could be nail polish, it could be make-up that will just brighten someone’s day.”
Filled purses can be dropped off at the EarlyON Centre or the thrift store attached to the Cochrane Food Bank.
