In a first for Iroquois Falls, the Earl Porter Lanes committee will be selling Tim Hortons holiday cookies.
Committee chair Liz King says this cookie is different from the traditional one we see earlier in the year.
“This one is a sugar cookie with a smile on it,” she says, “and it runs from November 18th to November 24th.”
Also different this time is that the bowling alley will split the proceeds 50-50 with the Tim Horton Foundation to support its summer camps.
Volunteers are needed to decorate the cookies.
“Oh, boy, do we need volunteers,” King laughs, adding that help is needed all that week, to keep the cookies coming.
“Your shift is from 9 to 11:30, so you need three people there. And then the next shift is from noon to 4:00, I think it is. So you need three more people there. So we need about 94 time slots to be filled.”
King points out that it’s a great opportunity for high school students to fulfill their volunteer hours and it’s a lot of fun.
Earl Porter Lanes will use its share of the proceeds towards renewing its 30-year-old bowling equipment.
