An in-person Smart Serve course.is being offered by the Iroquois Falls Adult Learning Centre.
Executive director Sara Haldenby says it was prompted by reports of people having difficulty with the online course.
Traditionally for volunteers at licenced events and hospitality workers, a recent development increased the demand for the course.
“With all of the stores getting their licence to be able to sell alcohol in just regular retail stores,” Haldenby says, “you also need a Smart Serve licence or card to do that as well.”
Smart Serve training consists of four two-hour classes and an online test. One session begins Tuesday night in Iroquois Falls. Haldenby says it will be held in Cochrane in November.
“We’re not just going to run it one time,” Haldenby says reassuringly. “So if you miss the first session, we will be offering it probably every other month going forward.”
The only cost is $44.95 plus tax for the test.
