The province’s police watch dog has invoked its mandate after it says an OPP officer fired his gun at a 36-year-old man Friday night (Sept. 20) in Moonbeam
According to the Special Investigations Unit, officers responded to a 911 call about a domestic dispute around 8:30 p.m. on Friday and before police arrived, the man had fled the residence in a vehicle.
The S-I-U says police then attempted to conduct a traffic stop and block the man’s vehicle on HWY 11, east of Moonbeam – with the man then driving into a police vehicle. The S-I-U says an officer then shot his gun at the vehicle, with the man then fleeing on foot. He was later located, with no injuries sustained from the gunfire.
