The Greater Cochrane Historical Society is looking for members.
Secretary Dawn Monroe says the group formed last February and is looking for people interested in the history of Cochrane and the surrounding small communities.
One thing it’s not particularly interested in is collecting relics.
“What we want to do is form partnerships with the archives that’s at the library,” Monroe explains, “with the Heritage Village and other organizations that have an interest in the history.”
Right now, however, it’s working on getting established.
“We have our constitution, we’ve got our bank account set up and we’ve chosen our name and our logo. So now we can start maybe working on what research projects we want to do.”
You can join a monthly meeting of the historical society on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm in the St. Paul’s United Church basement.
