A small group in Iroquois Falls is hoping to add to its numbers, all for the sake of cats that are feral, stray, unwanted or unhomed.
The name NEONCAT stands for North Eastern Ontario Neuter Cat Advocacy Team.
Member Zoreena Liznick Voyer says the municipal animal control department is supporting its work.
NEONCAT is working with other rescue groups for cats that are adoptable. The same goes for kittens.
“This is the main issue,” says Liznick Voyer, “because there’s all these unwanted kittens, and to make sure that these kittens are vetted, vaccinat3ed and at the appropriate age, get neutered or spayed and then put up for adoption.”
The group also wants to build shelters for feral cat colonies.
It’s raising money for all of that and wants more volunteers so it can step up all of its activities.
“There’s four of us right now, and we’re ready to grow bigger and just keep developing,” Liznick Voyer notes.
Any inquiries and donations of money and scrap metal can be made at Iroquois Falls Tire Service on Leroux Ave. in Montrock.
