The wall in the Tech Zone at the Cochrane Public Library will soon be transformed into a visual representation of the community and connection.
Acting CEO Jes Horne says local artist Kat Roy is leading the project, with input from local artist and library summer student Sage Belair.
“So we had Sage take Kat’s pencil sketch, put her spin on it for a smaller sized mural than the wall would be, to kind of show people what our goal is,” remarks Horne.
The library is raising what Horne calls “a significant amount” of money to cover the cost of the mural. It has reached out to local businesses and has already received generous donations.
Belair has returned to school, so Roy is looking for other artists to get involved.
“The mural really is to represent community and connection,” says Horne, “and so to have many different hands involved in this mural would be amazing.”
Horne can put artists in contact with Roy. If you want to donate towards the cost of the mural, you can do that at the front desk.
