After about a year of getting funding and planning for it, the Iroquois Falls Arts Council has unveiled its first mural on the outside of the Lions Den on Church St.
Arts Council chair Fran Coté says it’s called “Boreal Growth” and features edible wild plants found in the area.
The 16 foot high by four foot wide mural is the work of artists Robin Edmunds, Guy Wales and Brigid Wilkes.
Indigenous forager Chelsea Smith consulted on it.
“It was mainly our lead artist who worked with Chelsea on determing the plants,” Coté notes. “So we ended up with eight plants in the mural.”
The mural looks like a bookmark. So bookmarks were printed. Coté says there’s a QR code on them.
“It takes you directly to the mural page of the Iroquois Falls Arts Council website and you can see which of the plants that are featured.”
