FLU OUTBREAK IN COCHRANE DISTRICT

The Porcupine Health Unit says it’s recorded its first case of influenza A in Kapuskasing.  The unit says now that they’ve recorded one case in the Cochrane district it is expecting more.  A Public Health Nurse from the Infectious Diseases Program, Lesley Westheuser says the best way to protect yourself is through immunization.  Influenza is passed on easily through coughing or sneezing and direct contact with any infected surface.  You can check in with your local pharmacy, primary healthcare provider or the Porcupine Health Unit to schedule vaccinations.
