In Cochrane history this week, the first ever chair of the local tourist association was named 30 years ago.
It was reported in a page 3 story in the Cochrane Times issue of July 16th, 1994.
Judy Landis was named chair of the fledgling committee. She owned the Long Lake Bed and Breakfast in Hunta along with her husband, Larry.
She commented to the paper that Cochrane is on the main highway to Vancouver, and tourists would stop and stay if they knew what services were available. She was also optimistic that the expansion of winter tourism would help make this a successful tourist destination.
On the same page, word that the construction on the Tim Hortons outlet would begin within the week.
Thanks to the Cochrane Public Library for access to its archives.
