Prom dresses and suits available free in Iroquois Falls this Saturday

A prom when you graduate from high school is a major milestone.

For the third consecutive year, an Iroquois Falls woman is spearheading a project to make sure every grad has a dress or suit for the occasion.

Heather Wollan says her basement is full with over 180 donated dresses, about 100 suits and shirts, shoes and accessories.  She just wants to make sure affordability doesn’t get in the way, so young people are welcome to find an outfit with no strings or price tags attached.

“I think it’s just times are getting harder,” Wollan remarks. “Things are going up in price, also, there’s not a lot of stores in the area to shop for grad dresses anymore. People are having to travel out of town.”

The Princess Prom Project will be distributing the clothing this Saturday between 10:00am and 4:00pm at the Iroquois Falls Community Centre – the former Local 90 Hall.

“No questions asked,” Wollan emphasizes. “It’s completely free to everyone. You just come in and you go through the dresses, you’re able to try them on. You find the dress that you want. You can keep it after your prom, or you can choose to donate it back.”
