Officials from the town of Smooth Rock Falls say a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation has made a major impact in the community.
A $150,000 grant from the Resilient Communities Fund helped to complete renovations to the Smooth Rock Falls Public Pool that included new configuration, accessible washrooms, outdoor showers, the purchase of health and safety equipment and a canopy shelter.
Town officials met with Mushkegowuk James Bay MPP Guy Bourgouin to discuss the grant. Mayor Patrick Roberts says the impact of the grant cannot be underestimated and has allowed the community to deliver programs to serve our community better.
Bourgouin says the renovations were not only keys to preserve a beloved public facility but also necessary to ensure everyone in the community is included and can access water sports and activities.
