CUPE Local 71 members have solidly rejected the town of Cochrane’s latest contract offer.
Of the 62 members, president Lyne Nolet says 46 voted “no”. That’s 74%.
The vote was called at the request of the municipality, and ordered and supervised by the Ontario Ministry of Labour. The town exercised that option when conciliation failed.
The strike of the non-management workers began on July 31st.
