New rules are coming into effect which will have an impact on how provincial expenses are logged. MPP costs, for things like travel, will now be logged and put online in real time. That is opposed to the previous system where expenses would be released at the end of the year. Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says transparency is always the way to go, but this new system is a confusing one. Bisson says it’s not so complicated for MPPs themselves, but more for the people who have to process the claims. He says because of the new system, the province has had to hire more staff.
