Mainly Canadian music on tap when I.F. Community Choir performs Thursday night

Music director Roy Takayesu says the Iroquois Falls Community Choir’s first concert since the pandemic feels like renewal.

The group’s spring concert is this Thursday night at 7:30 at Sts-Martyrs Canadiens church.

Takayesu says it will feature mainly Canadian compositions ranging from folk to pop… inlcuidng a couple French-Canadian songs like “Vive la Canadienne”.

“And we have ‘Four Strong Winds’, ‘Field Behind the Plow’, Michael Bublé ‘s ‘Everything’, quite a variety,” Takayesu notes, adding that  the choir is trying to fit in Gordon Lightfoot’s “Early Morning Rain”.

The concert features a guest appearance by local musicians Rick and Cristi Reilly.

“Cristi’s been working very hard for the last few years, working on her own songs,” says Takayesu. “In the middle of the concert, we’re going to feature those two.”
