Ontario Provincial Police have shut down their Matheson detachment, effective today.
The force says it’s the result of a review aimed at efficiency and reinvestment, adding that it will not reduce frontline policing in the area. Cruisers are equipped with mobile workstations, so officers can take care of administrative duties without returning to an office.
Matheson detachment operations have been transitioning to the Iroquois Falls detachment since last May. This is the final step.
