Smooth Rock Falls’ annual truck festival, Smooth Truckfest won’t run this year, but is expected to be back in August 2024. Pride and booster committee chairman Jason Elliott says a number of factors went into making the difficult decision including emergency response concerns.
“What we are going to do during emergencies and emergency response stuff,” he said. “We lost a lot of committee members that were involved for many many years over the COVID, basically with COVID they didn’t come back. Which I understand and volunteers it’s a hard time to get volunteers.”
Elliott says he understands the importance of the festival to the community, but 15 months gives them more time to work out the problems.
“We have had multiple meetings with committees involved, and we looked at some of the current barriers and the time lines came down to the basic conclusion that if we push this with all of the barriers, the end result might not be what we want and what the public wants,” he said.
Smooth Truckfest celebrated its 15th year last summer.
