NewsWALKING ON THIN ICE SHARE ON: Tim Rout, staff Wednesday, Dec. 23rd, 2015The Northeast OPP are reminding residents that even though temperatures are somewhat near seasonal norms it’s still not safe to travel on the ice of lakes and rivers. This comes after the James Bay OPP, the fire department and EMS were called to a scene on Moose River. Police say they attempted to communicate to the man who was crossing the river on foot before he turned around and walked back about 20 feet from Moose Factory. The OPP says the man ignored it at the scene as he made his way back to his snow mobile. Police say the man was checking the thickness of his ice to cross via his sled.
