Preparations continue on Lake Commando for Polar Bear Cup snowmobile oval racing this coming weekend.
Organizer Dan Girard says he wants to maintain the reputation of having one of the best-built tracks on the Ontario Snowmobile Oval Racing Association circuit.
“In the past, we’ve had people go out and see what they can do and we’re just trying to so some preventive maintenance here,” he comments. “by trying to get people to understand that it’s a big endeavour, and we don’t want people messing it up.”
Girard says flooding of the track on Lake Commando is continuing and the mild, sunny conditions of late are not causing any problems.
“The weather seems to be staying cool enough in the daytime that it shouldn’t affect the track at all.”
