NOJHL game to help launch Iroquois Falls Winter Carnival this Friday night

The Cochrane Crunch of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have a home game on the road this Friday.

It’s moving its match against the Timmins Rock to the Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls, as part of that town’s winter carnival grand opening.

Crunch marketing and operations director Gina Nickolau says Rosewood Avenue will be singing the national anthem and between periods.  And I.F. Mayor Tory Delaurier will drop the puck to start the game.

“We got Tim Hortons to approve that we could have a teddy bear toss and the funds and the teddy bears will go to the Tim Horton Foundation,” Nickolau adds.

She’s also  impressed with how well organized the carnival committee is, commenting that  everything was ready even before she went to the arena for the first time, to check out the facilities.

Other activities at the big event include a cheer competition.

”A couple of our players are hitting their 100th game with the NOJHL,” Nickolau adds. “So we’ll have honouring them at the event.”

Everything is scheduled for 7:00pm.
