College Boreal is working with Iroquois Falls to get students hands-on experience.  Seven students enrolled in the college’s Heavy Equipment Training program, with help from the Labour Action Adjustment Centre and the D-SAB Employment Services.  The program lets community members get professional skills to re-enter the work force.  It worked out that the landfill in Iroquois Falls needed maintenance, so Boreal was able to use the location for the practical component of the course.  Boreal’s Timmins campus is going to be looking into offering the same course in February.
