Scottie and Devo Memorial Hockey Tournament faces off in IF March 17

Two young men with roots in Iroquois Falls who died of opioid overdoses will be remembered during a mixed hockey tournament on the last weekend of the winter carnival, March 17th to 19th.

Adam Boucher is the main organizer of the Scottie and Devo Charity Hockey Tournament, which pays tribute to Scottie McKinnon and Devon Lachance.  Also known as “Devo”,  Lachance was his best friend growing up.

Devon (Devo) Lachance was his best friend growing up.

He says gate receipts from the tournament will be used to pay ice rental for next year,  and then go to charity.

He will have a list of potential recipients to vote on.

“At the end of the tournbament, based on those votes, I’ll pick probably two of the charities – one local, one national,” he explains.

“I have a few right now, like Living Space in Timmins, the Northern Treatment Centre, Cochrane Mental Health – CMHA.”
