Family Day barbecue planned by Jackpine Snowmobile Club in Iroquois Falls

The Jackpine Snowmobile Club in Iroquois Falls has a fundraising barbecue planned for Family Day on Monday.

Secretary-treasurer Ginny Robinson says the trail groomer and the new Ski-doo Skandic the club owns will be on display.

It’s also an attempt to attract new members. Robinson says with more money and more volunteers, it will be easier to open trails early in the season – and safely.

“Safety’s an important thing that we want to make people aware of and if we can start with the kids, then maybe they’ll ask questions with their parents and just get people thinking a little more,” she says.

Barbecued food will be available between 11:00am and 2:00pm at the Legion Hall.  The hall will be open to warm up and use the washroom.

Robinson says the money raised will go towards more equipment that will help get the season launched earlier every year… because of faster work grooming trails and ensuring they’re safe.

“Flooding machines that are more powerful than what we use right now can do wider surfaces, kind of our mini wish list.”
