Local author looking forward to publication of her seventh book for children

An author of children’s and young adult literature who recently moved to Cochrane from Schumacher is working on her seventh book.

Sue Reimer grew up in Shillington.  The latest book will be published in December, 2024.  She says it’s a middle-grade fantasy about a girl who lives in a world where half her life is spent underwater.

“She is the gatekeeper’s daughter, so that’s what it’s called, The Gatekeeper’s Daughter,” she tells My Cochrane Now Dot Com. “She and a friend make a discovery that threatens the livelihood and existence of their village and their undersea world.”

Reimer gets a lot of inspiration from years of experience working with special needs kids.  She says Penelope, one of her characters, has Down Syndrome.

Reimer’s previous books – four for young adults and two picture books for the younger crowd – are still available.

“They are available online, on Amazon, on all the different platforms that you can think of, and also through me of course locally, I do carry some stock, and through the publisher.”
