Timmins has raised over 75-thousand dollars to sponsor a Syrian refugee family. 30-thousand comes from the community and 15 thousand comes from the city. It was also announced Monday night that the Richelieu Club is going to donate an additional 30-thousand dollars to help with costs, and potentially sponsor a second family. President Al Poulin says everyone pitched in to help the club come up with the funds. There is no set date yet on when a family will be able to come to Timmins. The city has to work with the federal government to get matched with a family and then the paperwork will begin.
