At least two outdoor skating rinks are coming to Cochrane, probably in time for the holidays.
Community services director Jason Boyer says, of course, there will be the one outside the Tim Horton Events Centre.
“We were planning on getting it done this week” he explains,“but we see a couple warm days coming up here on Friday, Saturday, so we pushed it off to the start of next week.”
“We’ve got some inquiries from a volunteer group to start the one down at the lake,” Boyer adds. “Hopefully we’ll have a second outdoor ice pad down by the beach.”
If you have a group that wants to build a rink anywhere else in Cochrane, the community services department will help you out.
Boyer says the rink at the beach doesn’t have a shelter, but there’s a bench where you can put on your skates.
The one at the Events Centre has a shack with a bench, and you can go inside the building to warm up and change your footwear.
