End of the road for this Legion Br. 70 Catch the Ace series, jackpot will be awarded

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 70 Iroquois Falls is nearing the end of its licence for the current series of Catch the Ace draws, and must give away a jackpot this Saturday night.

President Don Beagan says the size of that jackpot depends on ticket sales, and they’re already going fast.

“There is 10,000 tickets available for this draw,” he notes. “How many are going to be sold I don’t know, but I’m going to estimate $27-28,000 plus.”

Regardless of who wins and how much they win, another licence will be bought and the next round will begin the following Saturday, December 10th.

The proceeds draw are turned over to community projects and services.  Beagan says the Legion was previously quiet about it, until it decided to that the public should know where. So it recently handed out several cheques publicly.

“We gave out over $15,000 to different organizations within the community, the Timmins and District Hospital, the House of Kin in Sudbury, Rosedale Centre in Matheson.”

Beagan quickly adds “we’re not finished”.
