Something old, something new for annual Bill Harkins-Eugene Ricard telethon

The 40th annual telethon for the Bill Harkins-Eugene Ricard Santa Claus Fund goes this Saturday in Iroquois Falls, between 5:00 and 9:00pm.

As it has in the past couple years, it will be live streamed on the internet.

Show producer Rick Charlebois says archive material that’s been digitized from VHS tapes will be scattered throughout the evening.

He says submissions by entertainers are impressive, with a mix of the old standbys and some newcomers.

“We’re going to have yes, a new video from local phenoms Rosewood Avenue,” he lists as one of the highlights. “As we did last year, they’re giving us a video this year.”

Money raised through your pledges will be used for grocey and clothing vouchers for people in need in the Falls.

“We’re increasing the value of the vouchers this year by 20% over last year,” says Chralebois. “Because of the support that we’ve had over the past couple of years or more, that we’ve got reserve funds, we’re able to do that.”

Despite that, Charlebois says the fund hopes to meet last year’s fundraising total of $21,000.
