Purse Project helps women in need

The Purse Project is in its first year in Cochrane.

Community ambassador Cindy Salonen says the idea is to fill purses with items that women in need can use.

“This will enable them to receive a purse full of necessities and a little bit of extras for their personal use,” she adds.

Those items could be toiletries, mitts, a hat, a tooth brush and toothpaste, maybe even a gift card to Dollarama or Giant Tiger so the recipient can get her own items.

Where to drop them off can be found on the Purse Project’s Facebook page.

Salonen notes that the deadline is December 3rd.

“Because I do have to do a quality check and make sure all the objects, none of thme are open or damaged, because we want to give them quality products.”

Salonen has been in touch with community organizations to determine who will receive the purses. She is aiming for 50 purses, to be distributed on December 15th.
