The arrival of winter doesn’t mean you have to put your Fitbit away and set your daily walk aside until spring.
The Ininew Friendships Centre in Cochrane is offering indoor winter walking. Healthy living program coordinator Lyn Ivall says it’s on the walking track at Ecole Catholique Nouveau Regard.
“People who are nervous to go walking on the icy sidewalks and streets can come in and walk the track in the school with us from 6:00 to 7:30 Monday to Thursday.”
It begins tonight (Tues.). There’s no admission charge, and Ivall says it’s open to any adult.
“We just ask that they bring clean indoor walking shoes and arrive between 6:00 and 6:15,” she says, “because we can’t leave the front door unlocked, and then we’ll go in and walk around the track and get our daily exercise.”
