MICs facilities achieve second highest accreditation level

Patients of the three hospitals and residents of the three long term care homes operated by the MICs health care group can rest assured that they’re getting top notch care.

The group recently underwent a once-every-four-years accreditation process.  It’s conducted by Accreditation Canada, which MICs CEO Paul Chatelain says 98 percent of Canadian hospitals do.

“We actually achieved 97.4% out of 1,775 criteria standards and we’re accredited ‘with commendation’,” he reports, “which is the second highest level of decision.”

Chatelain is particularly pleased, considering the pandemic.  The week the accreditation team visited the six sites, there were three outbreaks in the long term care facilities.

“In 2018, we were credited with just accreditation states, which is a good status, but at least now we’ve gone up to the next level. So that’s good news all around,” he states.
