Pro-Ukraine vigil tonight in Iroquois Falls

A Stand with Ukraine candlelight vigil is planned for tonight, seven o’clock, in the parking lot at the arena in Iroquois Falls.

Organizer Zoreena Liznick-Voyer says it’s primarily in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, more than seven months into the Russian invasion.

“People will participate in this vigil for different reasons,” she predicts. “I myself think it’s not only for the people of Ukraine, but there’s other conflicts going on in the world.”

Liznick-Voyer organized a similar event within a couple weeks of Russia invading Ukraine.

“All of the things that we were fearful of happening in the month of March when we heard that this was going on, has happened,” she states.

Liznick-Voyer says the vigil is moral support for the resilience of the Ukrainian people, who are holding fast. And thinking of people at home, vigil participants are asked to bring non-perishable food for the food bank.
