Christmas season ready to launch in Cochrane with annual parade

The official launch of the Christmas season in Cochrane is on Thursday, December 1st, with the annual Santa Claus Parade.

Community services director Jason Boyer says the parade starts at 6:00pm and will run along Railway St. between Fifth and Sixth Aves., down Sixth to Fifth St., and around the lake.

“We will be kicking it off at 5:30 with the annual tree lightly at St. Paul’s United Church,” Boyer points out.

Once the parade’s over, there will be fireworks over Lake Commando, then an opportunity to meet Santa Claus at the Pavilion.

Boyer says any musicians and organizations from Cochrane and neighbouring communities are welcome to enter the parade, especially if they have a float.

“We’re accepting those registrations right now and we’d love for people to get in their names and their floats and make this bigger than last year.”
