Delaurier full of gratitude on winning election

Sixteen-year Iroquois Falls council member Tory Delaurier has been elected mayor.

He was appointed mayor last year to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Pat Britton.

Delaurier’s 1,209 votes bettered his only opponent, Roger Hardy, who attracted 463.

Issues aside, Delaurier was full of gratitude when he spoke to the crowd gathered at the Legion Hall to await the results.

“I thank all the voters for all their support and all the residents here for coming out tonight. And I’d like to thank my family for their support and my campaign team,” he said, also extending thanks to town hall staff for everything they do.

Mayor-Elect Delaurier saved his final thanks for his wife, Chantal Martel.

“She’s been by my side for 16 years doing this,” he said, “and it’s been hard on our family, but I have two great kids, Dawson Delaurier and Gavin Martel. I’m very proud of them and thank you to you.”
