Pet pantry opens in Iroquois Falls

There’s a food bank in Iroquois Falls for people.  Until now, however, it hasn’t catered to pets.

Grade 12 student Kendra O’Connor is taking care of that.  She has started what she calls a pet pantry, collecting pet food and supplies.

“And I also felt like the pets of Iroquois Falls needed someone to help advocate for them,” she adds.

You can deposit donations in a bin at Iroquois Falls Foodland.

“I go there multiple times a week to pick up the donations,” states O’Connor, “and then at the end of the month, I will bring them to the food bank.”

She hopes to expand the pantry with other drop-off locations.  And she has contacted the Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society, with the hope of sharing some of the supplies with animals in its care.
