HEALTH SYSTEM STRAINED

Health Sciences North says it’s experiencing a surge of patients and as a result all non-urgent surgeries have been cancelled.  HSN says its hospitals will be taking steps to transfer out-of-town patients back to their communities.  The Chief Operating officer at HSN, Joe Pilon says it’s working closely with north eastern hospitals and health care providers while the influx is being dealt with.  HSN is also asking nursing homes in the Northeast to avoid making transfers where possible as it deals with the influx of patients.  It says all urgent surgeries and transfers will still be completed.
