Boreal Wildlands Project near Hearst gets $10 million from TD Securities

The National Conservancy of Canada is receiving $10 million from TD Securities to help on the ground conservation work of the Boreal Wildlands Carbon Project near Hearst.

NCC President and CEO Catherine Grenier says she’s thrilled that the organization and TD Securities are working together on a positive carbon-neutral future.

The Boreal Wildlands is storing 190 million tonnes of carbon or the equivalent of the lifetime emissions of three million cars. The wildland is 145,000 hectares or roughly twice the size of Toronto. The project conserves more than 1,300 kilometres of rivers, streams, shorelines and forests.

Executive Director Craig Losos says the need for conservation action has never been more urgent and it will take more private-sector funding to ensure nature and people thrive now and into the future.
