UPDATE FRI., SEPT 16: The dates have been set. The first event is at the Iroquois Falls Community Centre on Wed., Oct 12; the second on Tues., Oct. 18 at the Porquis Recreation Centre. For both, the doors open at 5:30; the program starts at 6:00.
It’s majority rules for dates to be set for a municipal meet the candidates event in Iroquois Falls.
Chamber of commerce coordinator Brenda Keyes says all 13 council and two mayoral candidates are interested in participating in one session in Iroquois Falls… and one in Porquis.
“We gave them two options for dates for each location,” says Keyes. “So we’re just in the process of them voting on which date at each location they prefer.”
The options are October 12th or 13th at the community centre in the Falls, and the 18th or 19th at the Porquis Recreation Centre.
Keyes says the format is rather standard.
“We’ll have opening statements from candidates. We’ll have written and questions from the floor, so if people are more comfortable writing their own question, they can. If they’re more comfortable going up to the mic, they can ask that way.”
Everything will be strictly timed.
The election is Monday, October 24th.
