No minor hockey player registering for the first time in Iroquois Falls has to pay

Iroquois Falls Minor Hockey is going into its eighth year with no registration fee for first-time hockey players.

President Greg Robinson says noting a lack of participants, the association instituted the idea for kids who have never played organized hockey.

“All the members sell tickets,” says Robinson, “50% of the prize money goes towards paying for the new registrations for the kids and it helps boost our numbers for years to come.”

Robinson says this began in 2015, for players under seven years old.

“Now we’ve brought it up to our U-11 group. So basically, any kids ten and under that wanted to join hockey for the first time can join with no registration fee.”

At this point, Robinson figures every player 12 and younger took advantage of the deal.

You can register your child on the IFMHA Facebook page or website.
