Edmonton doubled Buffalo 4-2 in NHL play yesterday.  Elsewhere, Chicago got by Winnipeg 3-1 and the New York Rangers were 4-1 winners over Ottawa.

In Curling, the first men`s and women`s teams have been determined on who qualifies for the Canadian trials leading up to the 2018 Winter Games.   Rachel Homan of Ottawa defeated Edmonton`s Val Sweeting 8-7 for a direct-entry berth to the trials which take place in 2017.  For the men, Keven Koe of Calgary picked up a 7-3 win over Mike McEwen  of Winnipeg to play in the trials.

The Toronto Raptors didn`t see any basketball action yesterday but a noteworthy game had the Golden State Warriors win again, this time 114-98 over the Brooklyn Nets.  The win extends the Warriors` franchise record to a perfect 22-0 to start the season.

The Cochrane Crunch beat the Soo Eagles Friday night at the Tim Horton Event Centre, taking a definitive 6-1 victory.  And the Eskis lost to Timmins 5-4 in Thursday’s close call game.
