NewsA NEW PHONE FRAUD THREAT SHARE ON: Tim Rout, staff Thursday, Dec. 3rd, 2015The OPP is asking residents to keep their personal information safe and protect themselves from phone scams. Recently residents have reported receiving suspicious calls from representatives claiming to be from Windows Help and Support. Microsoft says it will never contact you over the phone and ask for personal or sensitive information. Staff Sergeant Baldassare Nuccio from the OPP says never give any personal information away over the phone without first verifying the caller’s identity through official channels. Staff Sergeant Nuccio says if you do receive a suspicious call from a business or organization, verify their identity and if you find it to be fraudulent to call the police.
