Students and newcomers meet with regional immigration network

The Northern Ontario Immigration Francophone Resource Network is helping newcomers and Universite de Hearst students get settled in the north. Coordinator Marie-Josee Tremblay says meetings in Timmins, Kapuskasing and in Hearst let students know what services and organizations are available to help them.

“And I think it is important for them to get the information ahead of time so they can get ready when the time comes,” she said. “That way they know what they have to do and they see that it’s a big process so the sooner they see and start the better it is for them.”

Tremblay says this is step one to a very long a big process to eventually get students to work and help employers.

“Their paperwork and we’re there to review and proof read, and etc,” she said. “So it’s really a good thing that we’re actually take the first step to go a little ahead of things for them.”

Tremblay says the network understands that there are a lot of needs of the students and these meetings get them information any before problems may arise.
