Thrift store ready for grand opening

Renovations and clean-up are over. It’s time for a grand reopening of the Neighbour-to-Neighbour Thrift Store in Cochrane. It’s adjacent to and financially supports the Cochrane Food Bank, says Cathy Beaton, who manages both.

“We rely on the money coming in to keep our shelves full, keep our hydro on,” Beaton explains, “so it’s extremely important for people to come in an support our thrift store.”

Beaton adds that you can help by donating clothing, furniture and other good used items, and buying whatever treasures you find. “Even volunteering is a big help.”

She adds that she’s out to change the perception of the thrift store – it’s not only for the less fortunate.

“And if you need the smallest thing, we probably have it.  If you need the biggest thing, we probably have it. You know, we’re here for everyone.”

With the economy the way it is, Beaton says it makes sense to look at a thrift store for gently used clothing, furniture, and who knows what kind of treasure you might find. “You’d be surprised what you’d find here.”

The grand opening is Monday, May 2nd, between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

Ray Lapalme puts some finishing touches on renovations at the thrift store.
