A virtual sex and consent information session is set for this Thursday from 7 to 8 pm. Habitat Interlude and Victim Services Community Coordinator Chelsea Mateev (Ma-teev) says the Zoom conference is open for not just teens and pre-teens but for adults and especially parents learn more.
“So these sometimes uncomfortable conversations happen more often,” she said. Although they can be uncomfortable sometimes they are very important to have so we are trying to create that openness to youth.”
Mateev encourages parents and their teenagers to watch the event together and learn more from the various topics covered.
“We will cover what are some of the myths of sex and consent, and then go through what is a sexual assault? What is consent and what are the steps involved in consent,” she said. “What to do if you are a victim of sexual assault. We will go through some difference scenarios and then we will go through the resources available.”
