Agreement establishes ‘sustainability hub’

The president of the Cochrane Board of Trade is praising an agreement signed this morning, making the town a sustainability hub.  Frank Louvelle says it’s probably the first in Canada.

The agreement is with Toronto-based international developer KPGI, the Indigenous Critical Infrastructure Fund and the Board of Trade.

Initially, it will invest in operations that provide jobs in data mining, cryptocurrency and vertical farming. Louvelle calls that a start to making Cochrane more sustainable.

“It’s very exciting for me to have this opportunity to create a better future potentially for our community, for our residents, for our youth,” he remarks. “And then it’s one of these situations where there’s absolutely nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain out of this agreement. We’re not the ones funding it.”

Louvelle says had the Board of Trade not signed the agreement, investors would have gone elsewhere.
