“Between the Stacks” invites youth voices at Cochrane Public Library

The Cochrane Public Library wants more teenagers to use its services, and tell it what services they want.

Debuting tomorrow online is “Between the Stacks.” Program services coordinator Hillary Meaden calls it a “youth in action council” for 14 and up. She says during the Google Team session, she wants to hear from the teenagers. “What they want to see in our collection, what’s going to make the library more inviting to them, what programs do they want to see here?”

Meaden says the library is more than books. The youth could suggest things like playing video games there, or to add more LGBT, fantasy and Anime books to the collection.

Meaden sums up that this is your chance to have your voice heard. “Because their voices are important as much as the seniors that come in, the parents that come in, kids as well.  Their voices deserve to be heard. We want to make this an inclusive place for them.”

The group meets every second Saturday at 1:00pm.  And it qualifies for volunteer hours. To get involved, send a Facebook message or email [email protected] for a link to tomorrow’s meeting.
