Clarifying what’s open, what’s not in Cochrane during the latest lockdown

We have a clarification about municipal facilities in Cochrane are open and what’s closed during the provincially mandated lockdown that began today.

Community services director Jason Boyer tells us that the child care centre is open as usual for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

“School-aged kids, it’s just for emergency care of our essential service workers. But other than that, everything is running as normal.”

The Tim Horton Events Centre is closed, as is the Commando Pavilion – except for COVID-19 vaccination clinics.  Boyer says outdoor amenities like trails and the rink outside the Events Centre are still available.

“Our outdoor amenities are going to be where it’s at. We’ll try and keep up with our trails and stuff like that, and make sure that people can still get out and be active.”

The lockdown is effect until at least January 27th.
