Iroquois Falls mayor puts emphasis on mental health during lockdown

The Town of Iroquois Falls is shutting down the Jus Jordan Arena and the aquatic and fitness complex… in compliance with the provincial COVID-19 lockdown.

Mayor Tory Delaurier says he hopes to get them open and activities like hockey going again on January 27th, partly for the emotional benefits.  He also hopes that Premier Ford and Prime Minister Trudeau are taking that into account.

“This is going to take a long time to get things back to normal,” the mayor predicts. “I think the government should focus more on mental health.”

Delaurier points out one difference between his town and several others:“Town Hall will remain open, but one customer at a time. Please have patience with the town hall staff, because they’re just following the rules.”

He says the whole aim is to protect everyone’s health.  He’s also urging his townspeople to take care of their mental health.  Stay positive, strong and healthy; and get outside for some fresh air and exercise.
